WORKSHOP: HOW CAN AYURVEDA SUPPORT US IN OUR YOGA PRACTICE?
How Ayurveda can support us in our yoga practice? Have you ever wondered why some types of yoga, or even postures, leave you feeling restored whereas others don’t feel quite right? Or which herbs and spices are best for you? We’ll cover the basics of Ayurvedic philosophy and the doshas (mind body types), as well as tailored herb, diet and lifestyle advice to help you feel more balanced. Indeed, Ayurveda sees that the right diet can be as powerful as medicine, and without diet changes, herbs may be of no use. We are all different and there is definitely no one-size fits all advice in Ayurveda. This session will also look at the herbal medicine industry in terms of sustainability, and how we all need to make efforts to source fair and organically grown herbs.
Jo is Head of Herbal Education at Pukka Herbs, where she oversees the delivery of industry- leading education enabling people to discover the power of herbs and learn to be well. Jo is an Ayurvedic practitioner and Yoga teacher, and full member of the UK’s Ayurvedic Practitioners Association. She has over ten years clinical experience and holds a BSc (Hons) in Ayurveda, which included clinical internships in India. She runs a clinic in Somerset where she sees a variety of patients. She also has a Post graduate Certificate in Education, has taught in several schools, and a Masters in Human Sciences from Oxford University. She is passionate about education and making tailored herb, diet and lifestyle advice more readily available, so people of all ages can make informed and empowered choices for themselves.
